Hi, let me introduce myself.
I'm Mandie and I am the saddler at Equus Design.
I have worked with horses since leaving school, firstly becoming a riding instructor before moving into the saddlery trade. After working as apprentice, I began working for one of the biggest saddleries in the south east of England, where I ran the workshop for several years. While working there, as well as gaining a wealth of experience working in saddlery, I took and passed my Society of Master Saddlers level 3 bridlework exam and my saddle fitters exam. I worked out on the road for a while checking, reflocking and fitting saddles too.
In 1999, I made the big leap and became self employed. As well as still checking and reflocking saddles, I worked more on bridle making and other leatherwork, including items for dogs.
It was not long after that we got our first retired racing Greyhound, which is when the making and designing sighthound collars began.
Now, twenty years plus on, (which is quite scary to think about really!) and many bridles, dog collars and leads down the line, I have come back to my bench full time, where I belong.
Pictured is a bridle I made around 2007. The customer contacted me recently and said 'it's still perfect!'
Quality lasts, just saying!
